Logic pro zoom shortcuts1/31/2024 I'll explain why I replaced the ones I replaced in a second: Here's a list of all the commands I covered in the video. I found a few of the REAPER defaults in this area to be less than perfect, and with some customization and a bit of SWS actions action, you can really optimize your zooming! In this episode, we're gonna be looking at a few preferences, Hotkeys and Mouse Modifiers all related to zooming! It's not the sexiest of all subjects, but the larger your projects get, the more important it becomes to be able to quickly navigate through them. Either by loading the US preset, or by assigning that key individually.Īnyway, I'm one of those people who are fascinated by the esoterica of Logic key commands (probably a small group), so I appreciate your help making sure I'm understanding things correctly.Optimizing Zooming defaults in REAPER w/ Hotkeys & Mouse Mods (Rapid-fire REAPER Tutorials Ep66) I think it would make more sense to use the key chosen in the US preset (⌃⌥=). Also, I see no reason to use that particular key combination. It works fine to assign the key in the usual way: "Learn by Key Label" (i.e., assigning control-option-shift-equals to the command Waveform Vertical Zoom In). On the other hand, your later comment ("Then it should work by learning it by Key Position") makes me think that you meant A.īut if you meant A, then there's no need to learn it by key position. I thought you meant B, and I answered accordingly (i.e., I explained that it doesn't work, and why it doesn't work). I figure you meant one of these two things:Ī) he can assign that keystroke to the command.ī) he can just press that key to invoke the command, because by default that key is already assigned. It should work with Control - Option - Shift - = Maybe they put that in there because they realized that people with compact keyboards were getting confused. In the US preset, this keystroke is used for that command: ⌃⌥= (control-option-equals). Which means you don't really have to assign anything. So on your machine, the default keystroke for Waveform Vertical Zoom In is this: function-control-option-slash. See the little plus sign? Pressing fn and that key has the same effect as pressing the plus key on a numeric keypad. Take a look at the key with the question mark and the slash. That's done with the "fn" key (which Eric mentioned). In this instance, "plus" means the plus key on a numeric keypad.Īnd even though you have a compact keyboard, you can still generate the same keystrokes as if you had a numeric keypad. But that's not what "plus" means, in this instance. You would expect it to mean the key just to the left of Delete, the key that has both plus and equals on it. The "plus" part is where it gets confusing. By default, the keystroke for Waveform Vertical Zoom In is this: ⌃⌥+ (control-option-plus). That's because you have a compact keyboard. The only one that didn't workfor me yet is 'Waveform Vertical Zoom In'. so do you have them working properly now? so when reading your original post in this thread I thought maybe you didn't realize that even without a number keypad you still had access to the arrow keys.ĪNYWAY. We're all unaware of many things at our various levels, and I don't know you or your level of experience with computers, Macs, keyboards, non-extended keyboards etc. PS: As a teacher, I make a HUGE difference between being unaware of something and being a moron. Sorry if you thought I implied that - but I didn't, honest. When I got my first macbook pro it took me a while to figure out that I had a separate "enter" key: I thought since the numeric keypad was missing I only had the return key that could function as a enter key if I held fn, but it took me a while to find the separate "enter" key since it's not placed at the same location on the keyboard - I never thought of myself as a moron for that much. I didn't assume you were a moron! Maybe you were just a brand new short-keyboard user and didn't realize that you had those keys available - that doesn't make you a moron in my book. Well I'm not sure why you assumed I was a moron but I'm sure you were trying to help, so thanks Well no I wasn't joking, I sincerely assumed you didn't realize you had those arrow keys.
